Fun Game

Although the Mets were horrible... that's being REALLY nice. I had a real great time. Went with a bunch of friends, and we had an enjoyable time. There was a ton of rain which ended up delaying the game for about an hour, but it stopped and that was it for the rest of the night. Here are some pics & vids.

b/c of the rain there were some areas where fans were NOT allowed to walk... primarily any where... We almost got involved in the first mob rush at Citi field! 2 guards blocking a walkway from 100 angry fans... not a good combo. They got backup though =(.

some lightning...

Amazing to see a brand new gazillion dollar stadium with leaks...

Depressed Met fans...

Angry yankee fans...

Bad stats...

cool clouds...

Finally, the only thing that kept me entertained throughout the game... heckling Melky Cabrera. At one point i had like 6 others screaming his name with me. fun times...

I'm looking forward to my next game! Let me know if you want in!

Computer Blues..

So at work I've been known as the black hole of working computers. Computers come to me in perfect working condition, and out of the blue they just stop working. I don't do anything to it besides my normal work activities and don't install anything other than the programs I use to carry out my daily todo list. I write to you now at 1:36pm on a monday afternoon, b/c today my computer decided to die. We have network monitoring on virus software, so that is always up to date and run daily. So i don't know how the heck these things crap out on me! I am writing to you from my MAC... the one that has never crashed... required a reinstall... required ANYTHING from me... while i wait for our IT guy to give me the diagnosis of my PC. I mean this thing knows just when to die on me... it's not like I have a mound of work to do, or 2 site launches, or a new project with a tight deadline which needs me or anything. I mean seriously! Sigh....

IM Conversation:
Jen: hey how's it going?
Dave: as good as getting pooped in the mouth while sleeping on the beach with my mouth wide open.
---- 5 mins later ----
Dave: no comment?

If IT tells me i have to do a format/reinstall. I am seriously going to cry. seriously... I've cried for less.

Sleepless in West Milford...

Last night I passed out on the couch at like 9:30 watching the met game. And woke up a little while later when Jen came home. Normally when I take a nap, I'm not tired when it's time to go to sleep. So as I expected, I laid in bed wide awake. I decided to get up and get some stuff that i was meaning to do on the computer. It was probably like 1am at this time. Around 1:30-2:00 I hear Haven coughing, and ultimately crying. This is pretty normal. Sometimes he just wakes up, we leave him, and he just falls back to sleep. I figured since I was already up I would just rock him back to sleep, and get back to what I was doing. I walked into his pitch black room, and he said his favorite words... "mess". But it wasn't his normal "MESS!" it was more like a drunken "mehhhhhhhhs". I didn't think anything of it until I got a whiff of an unusual yet recognizable odor. I reached for the light and there it was... more vomit than I would ever have expected to come out of a 2 year old. I mean it was everywhere... in mounds! I walked out to the living room and yelled "HALP" in a soft 'don't wake up maiya' voice up to my freshly woken wife. And we spend the next 30mins changing clothes/bedding/running out in the pouring rain to throw blankets/clothes/pillows/stuffed animals into the washing machine.

We decided it would be fine for him to sleep with us in case he got sick again. Unfortunately, he was as wide awake as daddy was, and we both laid in bed for like an hr. I was surprised that he was as calm as he was. He would sit up, let out a huge sigh of "I'm booooored", and lay back down in a different position. Finally after he found the "Hey daddy's beard tickles my feet" position I just threw him under my arm, with his head on my pillow and I think we both passed out.

I think for the first vomit session, it went well. I don't think he's sick or anything, which I would suspect would have been worse, but I think his belly was just too full. Does that happen?

LOOOUIEEE!

Haven and I started watching baseball this year (the Mets of course!). And boy does he love it. The other day we were watching and the 2nd baseman Luis Castillo was up. Haven says, "What's that?". I still don't know if he's meaning "Who's that?", or "Why is that guy a different color than what I'm used to?", but I took it to mean the first. I said "It's LUIS!" and from then on every time he was up he would get excited and say "LOOUIEEE BAT! LOOUIEEE RUN!". It was so funny. last night we were watching the game and for some reason they put Luis at the end of the line up and Haven was so mad. "WHERE LOOUIEEE?!?!". And each time the inning was over and broke to commercial he would cry that Luis didn't show up. Finally he got his wish in the 3rd. WHEW! His list of baseball terms consist of: Luis, Run, Hit, Bat, Ball, Homerun, Miss. He loves it, and i love that he does! Can't wait for him to start T-Ball.

Ugly Summer Weekends...

Does mother nature know what days Saturday & Sunday are? I mean does she know that we covet these 2 days of the week to go outside and enjoy the sun and bbq and play with our kids? If so, why does she hate us so much?!?!? This past weekend has been like the 4th or 5th time it has rained ALL WEEKEND. This coming weekend it's supposed to rain ALL WEEKEND! I'm planning our annual work summer BBQ for saturday, as well as our golf outing for the morning. I was told that you don't want to drive golf balls in the middle of the fairway during a hurricane/lightning storm... don't really see why not, but w/e. Yea i said hurricane... WE'RE SUPPOSE TO GET A HURRICANE THIS WEEKEND! As you can see... i'm a little annoyed. But hopefully it will blow away. pun intended!

8

The number 8 is a great number. It just so happens to be Jens favorite number, as she was born on 10/8/80. It comes after lucky number seven, and before 9, which is before 10. Along with 0 it is the only number that closes itself. In the Middle Ages, 8 was the number of "unmoving" stars in the sky, and symbolized the perfectioning of incoming planetary energy. Eight babies delivered in one birth are called octuplets. The first set of eight surviving babies, the Chukwu octuplets, were born in 1998. Eight is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word "prosper" or "wealth". All spiders, and more generally all arachnids, have eight legs. Eight is also the number of times THE YANKEES HAVE LOST TO THE RED SOX THIS SEASON! bwahahahhahahahahha

rofl.... happy friday yankee fans! You'll probably sweep my Mets, but who cares about that! hehe

MESS!!! Noooooooooooooooo

Jens post reminded me of this. I was sitting on the floor in the living room, and Haven was walking around. I had just finished eating something and had a small crumb on my black shirt. Haven was walking past me to his room, not paying an ounce of attention to me. He then glances over, does a double take at the crumb on my shirt and shouts "MESS!". He then proceeded to reach out while diving over my legs... totally missing the crumb by like a foot... and crawls over me, finally getting a grasp of the crumb. The crumb then crumbles even further. It was awesome to see him try to pick up all the little crumbs one by one with a single hand while mumbling "mess.. mess.. mess..". Finally he finished and looked up at me and with a sigh of relief he says "no mess...".

this kid is hilarious... seriously.

Jen, Phil & Ted. A match made in heaven

Since the moment Haven was born (it feels like), this little fairy has been whispering in my ear about this fancy, expensive, mother's dream of a stroller called the phil & ted stroller. The link i just posted will take you to the cheapest model. The model my beloved wife has finally acquired. She has scraped all her pennies together, had a yard sale, cleaned my wallet weekly... basically everything short of standing in front of the Shop-Rite with a tin can... well i have no proof she DIDN'T do that.... Anyway, she raised the money and splurged it on this stroller fit for kings... babies... Seeing her face when she got it was identical to seeing haven's eyes when you mention peetzees (pizza) or ice team (ice cream) to him. It was cute. She called me at work and told me it had arrived, and that i needed to come home right after and put it together. Of course i got home and it was already assembled, and i got an "I JUST COULDN'T WAIT". She modeled it for me, showed me how easy it was to move around, and finally she showed me how to collapse it (after 20 minutes of fumbling with it =P). We took it out last week, and i gotta say it was the smoothest ride ever. It's like the ferrari of strollers imo (in my opinion). the only thing i think it's lacking is a fold out DVD player, but i'm sure that's an attachment. Anyway.... congrats babe! You deserve it!

Mark it down in the books!

Our softball team got it's first win today! we are now 1-5! or 6... not sure. It's pretty sad i agree... there's only so much 1 man can do. The team has gotten WAY better since the first game i played with them... TRUST ME! the last 2 games we were just unlucky. today, everyone played great! With my new trusty sidekick (my new bat) i was up 4 times and got on base all 4. 2 ground balls for singles. 1 deep fly ball over the short fence (normally a HR, but in this instance anything over the fence was a double), and my last one was a short ball over shortstop. 4 at bats. 5 bases. 5 rbis. It was a good day. And i only got a scrape on my arm from sliding into 3rd! It's a Christmas Miracle! Anyway... hopefully we will have the same luck going into the last half of the season. I'll keep you updated.

My new bat

Here are a couple pics of my new softball bat that i got for like 60% off at sports authority. Originally marked at $149.99, rang up at $68. Plus an additional 20% off and a $25 coupon of order > $100. It was funny b/c we weren't expecting for our order to be that cheap so we had to go back and shop 2 additional times to get our total over $100. Entire order was a a softball bat, golf glove, 3 tank tops for the lady, a mini basketball (for the H), a bag of chocolate covered preztels (which we devoured in the car) and a king size reeses. Total cost $101.26. not bad. Did you know sports authority sold baby strollers?

Da Bears!

This isn't the exact bear who has been tormenting my beloved wife for the past 2 weeks. nor is it one of it's 2 brothers or mother. But i'm sure somehow the bear in this pic is related...

It seems as if the bears around here think they are one of the 90 cats that roam the neighborhood... they walk up and down the streets during the day. Looking for food. Looking for fun. Looking for trouble. Yesterday we had the opportunity to warn our neighbors kids playing in the yard that a bear was approaching them from the woods behind them. We also got to chase a mother and 3 cubs off our property (believe me i didnt see the cubs until after the fact), and finally, we got to hear our other neighbor screaming at the top of his lungs running after one who snagged his can down the road. That one was actually amusing...

Anyway... it seems as though these bears are not caring about our agreement. You know, like the one on Lost. Where the Dharma Initiative is allowed to live on the island, but aren't allowed to cross the line or make themselves visible to the others by any means... THAT AGREEMENT! Well hopefully they start respecting the people and their garbage around here, before someone seriously gets hurt, because if it comes down to that, it's probably going to be lights out for them. We have some bear mace and an air horn coming from Amazon, so that should hopefully hold them off! If those don't work, I'm breaking out my paintball gun and am going to get some practice.

wish us luck!
